+Celestron 8x42 Nature DX ED Binoculars
With the addition of ED objective lenses Celestron's first-rate Nature DX binocular series has received a significant upgrade. For a reasonable price, these Nature DX ED binoculars offer optical performance equivalent to more upscale binoculars.
The Celestron Nature DX ED is a versatile, general-purpose binocular that is optimally suited for hikes, birdwatching, sporting events, concerts, or nearly any situation where you want to get an up-close view of the action without compromising on brightness or detail. With ED glass to help you identify the most subtle of field markings and a close focus of only 6.5 feet, these binoculars are especially great for observing nature.
ED Objective Lenses
Chromatic aberration, or color fringing, a visual defect frequently experienced by binocular users, is all but completely eliminated due to the Nature DX's Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass. Enjoy razor sharp images even at the edges of the view field, as well as vibrant, realistic color.
Not all ED glass is identical in terms of quality. Compared to binoculars without ED glass, images viewed through these Celestron 8x42 Nature DX binoculars with high quality ED glass are noticeably brighter and sharper. Viewing in low light conditions such as at dawn or dusk makes this discrepancy especially apparent.
Coatings and Prisms
All interior air-to-glass surfaces are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflectivity coatings for maximum light transmittance to your eye, thereby giving the Nature DX ED's optics the distinction of being fully multi-coated.
Interior prisms are made of high quality BaK-4 glass with phase coatings applied to allow more light to reach your eye after being reflected off their internal faces.
Taken together, the fully multi-coated lenses and BaK-4 prisms maximize light transmission for remarkably bright, highly detailed images. The ED objective lenses further enhance these features, especially in low light conditions.
The Body
A durable rubber armored, polycarbonate housing protects your Nature DX ED binoculars from damage without weighing you down. Viewing through Nature DX ED binoculars is a comfortable experience for both eyeglass wearers and non-eyeglass wearers, due to sturdy twist-up eyecups. Twist through multiple click stops to find the position that works best for you. What’s more, the binocular is fully waterproof and filled with dry nitrogen gas to prevent internal fogging of lenses. Nature DX ED binoculars are able to stand up to even the toughest outdoor conditions.
Perfect for a Variety of Uses
With a close focus of only 6.5 feet, these 8x42 Nature DX ED Binoculars are perfect for viewing birds, butterflies, plants, or other nearby subjects. For distance viewing, the 8x42 model offers a wide field of view so you can easily follow subjects as they move with less need to move the binoculars.

Tripod adaptable, these binoculars can be mounted to any standard photographic tripod for extended viewing or digiscoping (photography through the eyepiece). Tripod adapter sold separately.
